Switch to Reef Crystals by Instant Ocean. It is a synthetic salt with extremely high quality control in regards to its numbers. If its only a couple bucks cheaper its well worth it. Some of the other "quality" salts are inconsistent in their numbers. Stability is key so this is why so many reefers stick to Reef Crystals.

    Well, Thanks for the replies!!

I've been using 'Coralife' brand, marine salt mix. comes in a large 6g plastic bucket.
It's what our favorite lfs here in SE WI recommends.

Come to think of it, I've only done a 15% WC once in the last 3 months also.

As for testing params more- I doubt it, well maybe a little more, but not much.

As for dosing the kalwasser- I put 1-2 tsps in a glass of RO water, then dump it into my intake portion of my sump over a few minutes. My sump alone is like 30g, then onto my 125g. I've read all the dangers, etc. But every time I do it, everyone tolerates it just fine! Even my chaeto, which is in a large area immediately after I add it, tolerates it well.

As far as the ATO, I know that's a great idea, but it won't work on my system.
And, it is known to eventually clog the float valves, etc.

My method works for my DT, so it works for me.

I don't advocate this however! I've found what works to keep my fish and coral healthy and happy, I'm certainly not saying it's the best or even the right way! FWIW- not pushing or advocating my way.

Just tested params today, last time was a month ago...

Tested my Params today. API Reefmaster Kit and an API Ph, Sailfert Mg kits.

Yesterday I did do a 22g WC, on my sytem that's about 135-150 total Gallons of water.

    Ph 8.1
    Kh 8
    Ca+ 460
    No3- 0
    Po4 0
    Mg 1400

Not bad with no controllers, no dosing pumps, nadda.

I put a tsp or 2 of Mrs. Wards Pickling Lime in a cup of RO and dump it into my PS section of my sump every 1-3 days.

All my 36 different corals, and other livestock are happy!
