Good advise from Corailline as usual, the cyno(red stuff)can seem to be tough to be rid of but can be greatly reduced with manual removal(vaccumed out with water changes)and good flow. The green film type doesn't usually last long.It all takes patience.

I have 10 nassarius snails 10 hermits and 10 black margaritas. What is getting me it that it happened overnight. Some people are telling me to put phosguard in, another to get a conch and run my lights for less time and someone else that says to put a fish in but that I am dead set against for sure I am not doing that. I had my big diatom bloom and that was handled by the crew but this has my head spinning.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
What you have is considered your CUC. I would however get one or two Astrea snails, perhaps a Tubo and a Certh, those types will assist with eating the film algae on the glass.

    Are you using RO water?

You do not need phosguard unless you have a phosphate issue. You could run some Chemipure elite which has GFO in it.

This link will assist you down the road:

Your head will spin, things will go great and sometimes you will have discouraging challenges.

Someone once said "It's a hobby not a race".

If you stick with it, keeping doing your research and have patience you will have a beautiful reef some day.

I clean my glass twice a week. It looks great for about 4 days and I come home from work and it seems over night out of the blue it looks nasty again. That's been going on for months now for me, and I run ROWA phos in a reactor. I know phosguard certainly helps but in my case it has not eliminated it 100%

Yes I am using RO water. First batch was bought from LFS to start the tank last mont and water changes with my own from rodi filter. I'm hoping this doesn't all take off on my rock too. Ill head down to the LFS for some new snails to help get cleared up. Thank you all for the timely responses its most appreciated

Quick update and ill be starting a thread in an appropriate area. My ENTIRE tank is green all my water is green and it is disgusting. I went to a different fish store (extremely highly recommended) to learn that the water I got before was probably garbage (because the other store owner is a scumbag) so after testing the hell out of my water I got some new rodi water and did a 15 gallon water change. I will do another 15-20 gallon change in a couple days and I am also running phosguard. Hopefully I see improvement or I am going to break down the whole tank

First, slow down. The algae will rid your tank of nutrients and die off. If it really bothers you that much, turn off the lights. The algae will die, and you can do water changes to lower the nutrients.

Second and equally important- keep a close eye on the HOB. You may need to change the pads frequently (or just run it without them). Dead algae trapped in a filter will keep dumping DOCs into the water, feeding the live algae.

Last but not least, have a little patience. Nothing good happens fast in this hobby. As already mentioned, algae blooms are a part of the maturing process. As frustrating as it seems, it will end and leave you with a stable and beautiful tank.
