having some problems with my SWC extreme 200

i had a small problem kinda turn into a larger one last night and am looking for some input.

my skimmer has been set up and running for about 3 months. havent had any problems. get a full cup of almost black skimmate about every week

last night i noticed that it was foaming a lot, overflowing the collection cup.

nothing has been added to the tank, to make the water itself foam more

i think the problem may be the airline to the pump, it seems to almost suck itself flat. the pump being under the skimmer stand makes the line take a sharp turn which isnt helping at all.

also managed to snap the outlet off trying to get the pump apart. I drilled the broken end out of the pump and re inserted the nipple, plus lost the rubber plug for the collection cup outlet........

should i try and replace the air line with more rigid tubing, what else could make overflow.


oh yeah: i have it in kinda deep water like 12 inches, but have been running it like that all the way open. plus i removed the "down pipe" to make the output less restrictive. i know i need to make something to raise the skimmer up some but have been lazy cause it worked so well for so long.

 

How do you know it is turning the right way. Sicce pumps can run backwards.... now it sounds like it is running forward.

Did you turn the skimmer off for a cleaning?

The tubing is already plenty strong, and the venturi will not create so much suction that it will collapse it. Just plug the end of the tube and see for your self.

 

thats probably what it is, i lost power a couple times the same day it started. i didnt even think about that. guess it makes sense though being dc and all

im taking the motor cover to work today so i can re attach the nipple a little better
