    Hello everybody,

I am having some trouble with my innovative marine desktop protein skimmer. To start with my bio load is very small so that may have nothing, something, or everything to do with this but it seems that my skimmer will only pull skimmate for two days or so and then just bubbles lifeless lay for 3-4 days then repeats the cycle. It does not spew micro bubbles as it did for the first couple days, it is simply not pulling anything from the water.

Any ideas on what it might be?

Skimmers need some time to break in but it just sounds like your water is clean.

That's what I'm thinking as I read more since its been on there and running for a month now. I used to run my old skimmer for just 12 hours a day and this one for 24 so maybe that's where the difference is as well.

I have experienced the same thing with my IM skimmer. I spoke with my LFS and he told me that my tank is just too new and clean to be pulling out skimmate on a consistent basis. He mentioned that once I start putting in more livestock, this will change over time.

Thank you, this was my suspicion.
