it also take time to remove nitrate i had a bad problem with it awhile ago and it took 5 gallon changes twice a day for like a month to bring it down to even a reasonable level but 20 ppm is not horrible and said earlier.

As far as overstocking goes, you may be overstocked in the idea that you are running out of territory for fish to live, but IME stocking is flexible, it just has to do with how much work you want to do. If you're willing to change water at least once a week in a considerable volume, you can have more fish than if you only want to do a water change once a month. You could consider adding a refugium if you have the space.

I'm not concerned about overstocking or anything; I do a water change every friday

Well I'm working towards a solution but the problem is that I've already spent a lot of money on rock, sand, salt, the tank, fish, corals, and all that stuff, and an RO/DI unit that costs about $150 is just pushing it...

welcome to the money consuming hobby of salt water fish man. i hate to be the bearer of bad news but whoever said this hobby is cheap lied lol. you jumped into starting a tank with what looks to be little to no research and rushed the stocking so you will run into issues. keep in mind the motto i see everywhere on this site go slow let it grow. with that small of a tank being unestablished with that bioload you will have level issues. save money for an RODI unit and stop buying livestock thats just my 2 cents

Are you seriously telling me that I don't know what I'm doing? You, my friend, are sadly mistaken. I do know what I'm doing; I did all my research and already have a tank with livestock and corals. THIS IS THE ONLY PROBLEM, so why are you thinking that I came into this hobby unprepared???

If you know what you are doing, why are you asking questions then? To get your nitrates to zero do a 100% water change.
