I have had what began as one but now is two GBTA that have been in my tank for a few months now. One has stayed where it was originally put into the tank and the other stayed close by after the split. They are very sticky and take foods just fine. However, They look like someone just came and snipped all of the tentacles off.

    My levels are

    Ammonia: 0
    Nitrite: 0
    Nitrate: 0
    Phosphate: 0

Ph stays very stable due to kalk dosing.

I noticed a bristle worm that lives about a half of inch away from one of them. Could it just be a predator? After so many killings of my snails I'm thinking thinking about removing my hermits also, could they be a predator?

Hermits most definitely will kill snails.

If you can post an image of the BTA that would be great. I have seen this many times with others BTA. My personal explanation for this stubby appearance is that that BTA do not need to expand as much, less surface area is needed to aquire the same amount of light. I am assuming this is under the lighting in your signature 2/250 watts of metal halide.
Now one might say well in the wild they receive much stronger lumination, true but it's is not constant in it's intensity. Cloud cover, wave action, and the normal cycle of the sun provide variations and breaks.

Just read on reefcentral about nems wasting away, tentacles first, because they were starving. he hand fed it for several weeks and the tentacles grew back out. Also read that they can split from stress (although this is not always the case).

Ok Sorry I have been real busy but I finally took a picture of it.

It has his foot in a deep hole you cant see in the rock and is still very sticky and eats food just fine. Like I said i always see this large bristle worm right next to it. Any ideas? It looks like somethings just bit off all the tentacles.

small pieces of krill, but I use rods food for everything else so it gets bits and pieces of that too. I havent fed it in a while because I wanted to leave it alone should I try to get it on a more regular feeding schedule?

Yes he looks starved too me. I would feed small pieces of raw shrimp, scallops, fish, squid, or silver sides. I would do so about once a week for a month. Make sure the pieces are small, do not over feed. Watch for expelled un-digested pieces that will rot in the tank if not removed.

Look at karen's site I believe she addresses starved BTA.

    Good Luck.

Ok well I will start feeding on a more regular schedule, obviously it was from lack of food after reading. I'm actually moving in about 2 months and I do not want to stress them with the move so I will be hopefully getting them back to good health so I can give them to another reefer. The stress would be a little much for them in the shape they are in now.
