So we went to the drag strip today for a special event in the form of 3000hp pro mods. Anyway we were there for the entire afternoon and evening and my girlfriend is freaking out saying she cant hear as well. She said it's almost like when your ears pop from an altitude change but not as bad. No ringing, no pain, just a little muted. She wants to know if thats normal and everything will return to the way it was or does anyone think they could be damaged? These cars are rediculously loud but she held here ears and we were a good 60 ft away from them. Any ideas?

    I can relate to this

its the same if you attend a rock concert , mechanisms that I dont understand in the inner ear work to protect the ear from permenant damage , by swelling to dull the noise they are being expossed to

within a couple of days in my case , my hearing returns to normal
so hopefully it will be the same thing in this case

If you've never had this happen before, you need to party a little more :)

What Steve said. Same thing happens to me if I don't wear hearing protection when I shoot. It's annoying but her hearing will return.

Happened to me when I went to Charlotte last year, should return to normal by tomorrow. Next year get ear plugs to avoid deterioration due to repeated exposure to excessive noise.

That’s concert syndrome….usually unnoticeable due to the splitting head ache. All will return to normal in 24 hours.

should return to normal relatively quickly but sufficiently loud exposure can cause permanent damage.
