Acquiring ich is most often a result of stress and/or low immune system. If the other fish are doing well, the likeliness is extremely unlikely.

Hippo's are notorious for "playing dead."

Then you havent moved many regal tangs (or tangs in general)...they are the worst at it...they will lay on their side when scared....

I bought mine 6 years ago, I don't quarantine either, she got ick in about two weeks and man I had my hands full, I did water changes, I raised the temp, you name it I did it. I did fresh water dips to the point that I thought the freshwater alone woul kill it but it was so far gone that it didn't matter, anyway I found a product called Ruby's Reef Kick Ick, I figured what the hell, nothing else to lose, I have a 30 gallon reef only so put the tang in there and treated it with that, well, that was 6 years ago, never ever had trouble with her again, she's gorgeous, huge and a very greedy! :)

Hippos appears totally limp. I've seen many tangs in general hide under or leaning up against something, but leaning on the side isn't the same as "playing dead." I have or have had:

    Purple Tang
    Yellow Tang
    White Face Tang
    Powder Brown Tang
and of course, the Hippo Tang

Well here some update, I called my lfs and he told me to come in and gave me an another one, very nice place and very nice people.
I dripped him and put him in my DT and know I am playing with fire but after my bad experience with the quarantine I prefer putting him in the DT.
Thank you very much for all your help I could not do this hobby without you 3reefers

Good for you :) just get some garlic guard and soak ur food in it for that extra bit of help with immunity...make sure you give it some nori (from your local market in the sushi stuff) to graze on :)
