My heater is no longer keeping up so I need to replace it. I have been using cheesy wal-mart heaters and think it is time I get a quality one.

So I first read some threads and came across a lot of brands that I am not seeing at online stores. I know I want titanium and I also want an external control... the little knob on top way of doing it... tired of that.

So now I am at Marine Depot and I am looking at this heater (300 watt)

Is this a good one? It's titanium and has an external controller. Maybe I just can't search Marine Depot very well ::) but it is the only titanium one with external controller that is 250 watt or bigger I can find.

I have the Finnex titanium digital thermometer. I too was tired of the knob on top of the heater and really like the control box out of the water. I really like titanium heaters but I don't recommend the digital one that I have. For some stupid reason the default temp is set to 81 degrees, so if the power goes off and comes back on, I have be be quick about setting it back to 78. Keeping that in mind I would go with a manual control box similar to the one you have posted.

Yep, thats the one. I've been using them a little over 6 years now and have been very happy with their accuracy.
