    Hey I was wondering what type and watt I should go for heater, I have a 75g dt and 30g sump! Should I go with more then one, for backup purposes?

    2 is better than 1 IMHO

    Wattage - depending on ambient temp - somewhere around 5 watts per gallon is generally suggested

    so 2 x 250 watt heaters would be ideal in that set up I believe

    if you have 1 x 500 watt , and it failed in on position the tank would overheat badly
    if you had 2 and 1 of the 250 watters stuck on, it would not be as bad

    if you have 1 heater and it failed in off position - tank would get cold
    if you had 2 and only 1 fails in off position - the other one would at least maintain some of the temp
