I have a 90g. tank, that I just bought 2 new, 300watt Aqueon heaters for, and I can't get above 70 degrees???? I have good water circulation, I have them spaced apart etc.

The only thought I have is it's in a room (TV room) that the air temperature varies.....mostly around 68-69 in the day, and 62-65ish in the night as I turn down any room heat.....

Is this too much strain on the heaters????? Are these heaters I bought just crap????? Any ideas??? I have the heaters set at 82 right now.....

are the heaters on? are they in the main tank or somewhere else?
2 x 300watt should do ok for your tank, but can take some time to get up to temp.

Heaters are on.....the "glow lights" are working, however they aren't REALLY warm to the touch?????

They are in the main tank......maybe I just need to give them a couple days????

I started them out at 80*, and yesterday increased them to 83*, and right now I'm at 72* in my tank?

I put these in yesterday morning.....

The red lights do work....they do go on and off....

Got up this morning and the tank STILL is at 70.....and that's with the heaters at 83. Soooo, I'm going crank them up to 88 and see what happens.....and I'll be watching them closely.

Anyone have any other ideas????? My LFS is stumped as well????

Sounds like maybe one is working and one is not. You're getting some heating but not enough. If the temp is that low, they should be staying on all the time. As stated many times before, heater thermostats are crap and we all should be using temp controllers. Too much valuable livestock to risk on a dime store thermostat.- Paul
