    It is indeed a good thing to have around and hooked up....however, I wouldn't run it unless there is a problem with parasites or other such goodies in the tank. Running it 24/7 will kill the good along with the bad and can throw things a bit off-kilter.

    My tank came with one also. I used to have it hooked up, but when I upgraded I removed it. I try to fix problems that arise with other methods first before even thinking about going UV.
