I hope I put this thread in the right place, My tank is a 55 g. and sump/refug is 20 g. What would be the best heater to use on this set up?? Which one is everyones favorite one to use?? My area climate is not to bad, southern NC, 90s in the summer and 40s and 50s in the winter, vary rare to have an extreme high or low temp. Thanks

I'd get a submersible heater to put in the sump. Don't need to worry about it until the temperatures outside drop some though....I have my heater unplugged in the summer...don't want any chance it will turn on and heat up my already too hot tank. I am in the same climate as you...live in Atlanta.

i don't really have a favorite but stay away from the finnex heaters. they will fluctuate on you buy +/- 8 degrees. i almost lost a 4" monti cap because of that heater. i use the fish cue titanium heater now.

I have the Won Brothers titanium...has worked flawlessly for couple of years now.

Just ordered another from DFS for my new nano...paid for with discounts...:p

But can get from PreiumAquatics (3Reef Sponser) - actually cheaper.

be sure the temp is stable

    HI,
My tanks drift up when the lights are on and the ambients are up in the room, so I try and let mine stay around 75-76 that dosen't require any heat in the summer,
Now the winter months its a different story,
I used to shoot for 78-79 but that seemed to allow it to drift up to 80 during the day,
Many of the corals can reproduce at the high of a temp, and your 02 is hard to keep at higher temps.
