    Around $2 and very accurate as long as you don't crack it. Very hard to crack though.

    Depends on how small it is, but it would certainly stay on more than normal. From your other posts, it seems that the heater may be defective. Considering the way things are shipped and handled by warehouses, that's not impossible, regardless of the brand name.

    You could test the thermostat by adjusting the temp to see if it comes on, then reset it to where you want it and see if it works, but I wouldn't keep one with a known thermostat issue, anyway. It just might stick ON next time.
