So I was just thinking... What if I started a reef club at my school in which the main objective is creating a tank for the school? Maybe in the entrance or in the library?

My plan is to ask some of my sience teachers to be sponsors.. And advertice this at school so that we get as many people in the club so that this becomes true.

On Monday I'll ask my friends about it and maybe we can go ahead and ask teachers. :)

    What do u think?

I thought of that too, but with the economy being the way it is, it would have to be more like a fish bowl.

Hahaha a buddy of mine and I thought about setting up an aquatic turtle tank in our school's lobby for our Senior Project, but it never left the drawing board.

It would be freakin' awesome though. However, I hate to say this but I'd hate to think what a group of potential pranksters could do to a reef tank that was so easily available to them...:wreck:

Yeah that is what I was thinking.. And the only solution I find is place it where there is teachers all the time and camaras. Like library. That way it should be some what protected.

Yeah! I'm hoping that this educates many people about reef keeping. And mybe it will increase peoples sensitivity to actual coral reefs in the world.
If we succed in building the reeftank we are going to have an expo in which tons of info will be given.

Depending on how much the school might be willing to spend on the tank, you could go bigger. Will this be going in a wall or just flat out in the open?

Also, the library would be a good place for it IMO. It could help lower some stress, plus I don't know of any pranksters that target libraries ;) And it's not as if libraries stay open late for random events like a regular school building might, which would help as well.

If you think you're school can swing it, look into some 6' tank sizes. Since they're so long, they have the appearance of being bigger than they really are. Most standard 6' tanks are 125-180 gallons.
