so i was looking up the word hella for giggles and this was one of the definictions that i found.(i thought ppl from california would find it funny )

    hella
buy hella mugs, tshirts and magnets
Term used to indicate personal superiority. When spoken in conversation, the receiving party immediatley knows that the person saying the word is of a high class because of that person's NorCal roots.
Thusly, if the receiver is not of the same geography and stature, negative emotions arise from envy. A primary example is that of the frustrated SoCal dweller who is frequently subjected to the mighty and humbling presence of NorCalers.
Alternatively, Hella can alert other prestigious NorCalers that they are dealing with a higher species much like themselves.
    NorCaler: "That was Hella cool!"
SoCaler: "Huh? Wha? Hella? That sounds dumb."
NorCaler: "No sir. You sir are Hella dumb. Good day."
SoCaler: "Oh yah. You're...dumbererer. Keanu rules!!"

Heh, being on the central coast, we get the mix of socal "totally" and "soooo" along with "hella" from norcal. It's funny for us neutrals to just listen and giggle.

Haha I remember when I was younger and I would go visit my cousins in Sacramento, they would always say "hella" and I thought it was so cool!! No one talked like that up in Seattle - so I adopted the word. But I don't say it anymore!! lol

I'd still give NorCal cred for it since I've heard it for well over 15 years and only in the past few have I heard it on TV and such.

    LOL.........wicked.......ha
