Hey everyone, I'm looking to set up a reef tank. I've had a couple of small freshwater tanks before but nothing serious. I have been looking at some of the pre-made kits, I'm not sure what I should start out with. I have been looking at tanks in the 20-30 gal range.

Welcome! why not start out with a bio cube? like a 29 gallon bio cube, i suggest you upgrade the lights thou but thats just me :)

one tip i will give you now....dont go cheap!!! if you skimp on important things your tank will suffer! o and buy a refarctometer NOT a swing arm!

Welcome to 3reef. This site is great for learning. In aquariums the more water it holds the more stable it will be, if you are going with a 20-30 gallon, I recommend you get a sump to add more water to your system. One last thing, don't get damsels as starter fish, IMO they are the most aggressive fish in the aquarium world. I would recommend getting chromis when you start.

welcome to 3reef. Like everyone else i suggest going with as large a tank as you can and try not to skimp on anything you dont have to.
