    Hello all,
My name is Tyler and I'm from Atlanta, GA and I have been poking around on this site for over a year or so and I have gotten so much info and tips and I haven't really introduced myself or my tank so I figured I would get a start on it now.

I have been in the reef hobby for about a year now, but I have been around tanks for a long time now. My step dad got me into the hobby and he gave me one of his smaller set-ups last year and I have been learning and enjoying every moment of it since i first set it all up.

I tried my hardest, being a newbie, not to dive in too fast and take it all slow and I am so glad that I did because it has paid out big time. I have read so many times on here and other forums to just take everything slow and absorb as much information that you can. I feel like I have done plenty of research and gained plenty of knowledge, but I in no way consider myself an expert or even close to knowing it all. I am still learning and love learning and hearing other people's problems and stories.

So here is what i got:

    • 20 gallon tank - 30 x 12 x 12
    • Coralife protein skimmer - 65 gallon rating
    • AquaClear fliter running with carbon
    • Coralife 96 Watt 17 inch 50/50 power compact
    • Hydor Koralia 1 pump
    • AquaClear 20 pump
    • AquaClear 30 pump - x2

    • about 15 pounds of live rock
    • 1 inch of live sand bed

    • pair of Ocellaris clownfish
    • 1 - 4 stripe damsel
    • 1 Mandarin Goby
    • 15 blue leg hermit crabs
    • turbo snails

    • frogspawn
    • green candy cane coral
    • lavender mushrooms
    • eagle eye polyps
    • brown leather toadstool mushroom
    • blue ricordea mushrooms
    • colt coral

I don't have a huge variety, but like I said earlier I am trying to take it slow and keep everything in check and balanced. I want to upgrade to a bigger tank, but I am going to be moving to Texas in about a year and a half after I graduate so I dont want to spend alot of money upgrading when I have to tear it down later. I want to definetely upgrade my lighting so I can expand what I can keep in my tank. I would like to go with a T5 system but I gotta save my pennies.

Thank you for checking out my tank and I look forward to getting to know more of you from here on out. Thank you again

welcome to 3 reef Bosshog .

you dont metion a Phosphate reactor or any Phosphate media like GFO (Phosban, Rhowphos, etc , in your filter system

Nitrates and Phosphates feed algaes, so IME , its best to stay on top of both these nutrients
