    All,

My name is Rudolf (Rudy), I am currently 28 years old and have had close contact with fish for my entire life...

As a child I grew up around numerous ponds that my dad kept.
When I grew older I added Koi's and Sturgeons to the equation and took care of these animals.

about halfway through my current life I started setting up various type of aquariums, mostly freshwater.

About 5 years ago i set up my first Saltwater, this is where everything went down-hill REALLY fast...

Below are pictures of my 2 tanks from back in Rochester, NY (1) 90 gallon reef and a 14g biocube. The 90 was focused on Zoanthids, whereas the biocube was focused on LPS. I'll probably try to get the same thing going for my new tank.. hopefully combined, if not, i'll just build a second setup!

Unfortunately the above tanks are no longer in commission.
In 2010 I had a rough time back in Rochester and ended up moving to New England (New Hampshire).. Took a long (3 month) road-trip right after the move and then spent the last year trying to get back on my feet! (all positive of course!)

Right now I feel I'm ready to jump back into the reef society and set up a new tank! Since I plan on purchasing a home in 15-20 months, I don't want to start too big, but I figure a 75 gallon tank is a good start to culture some rock, corals and fish until I'm ready to set up a big tank in the home I have yet to purchase.. Once in the new home, I will probably go for a 180 gallon tank or bigger.. (probably bigger, you all know how these things start small in your head!)

I will start gathering equipment and other dry-goods over the next few months with the hope of starting the tank up hopefully around March or April, when the power-outages are less frequent, this gives me time to set up a fully reliable power grid over the summer, to protect the tank from whatever may happen the next winter..

    Good old new England storms!

Besides fish I am a technology and DIY enthusiast! My job as manager of store technologies (retail/network equipment) has me on the very edge of new technology constantly, I can only hope to be that up-to-date in my tank builds!

I am considered an IT/Network expert, so if any of you have any questions or need something done in the New England area, it would be my pleasure to give you my best advise.. Never to shy to help someone out if needed :)

DIY wise I will try anything, this is not my area of expertise but I am quite capable of most electrical and construction work.. The way I see it, in the worst case scenario you do it wrong, and you can always ask for help/advise and do it again!

I'd love to get to know some people in the area, as with every long-distance move, I know very few people in the area at the moment!

Looking forward to joining in on discussions and getting to know some of you.

    Sincerely,
    Rudolf

Ps. Currently I have absolutely no reef-related equipment left.. if you have anything essential that you are looking to part with, please do shoot me a message!

    Welcome to 3reef Rudy,

Congratulations on the new path towards a home and establishing a tank.

Your two previous tanks were beautiful.

+1 to what Coralline said about your previous tank. Welcome to 3 reef, this is a wonderful forum with great people. I'm glad to know we have a techie (sp) on here. I'm old so not very up to date with things, so may be tapping your expertise in the future :)

That was a really nice Biocube you had. Actually, my 22 year old son is just starting to set up a 14 himself. With your background, you should look into a Reef Angel controller for your setup.

    Welcome to 3Reef!

Welcome. I too am getting back into the hobby after being away from it for a while. I look forward to watching your journey back into things. You seem to know what you are doing, however, we are all here to help each other. If you have any questions, just ask. BTW, I would certainly mix the reef. I think the best looking reef tanks are mixed sps, lps and softies.
