Thanks for the welcome everyone ... Well , I found my first sign of new life last night on my new live rock . I was happy for about 5 mins before I ID'd the little guy on 3reef . Aiptasia :rifle:
It wasnt even the size of a pencil eraser, and I looked over everything in the tank the best I could and didnt see any others . So I took the rock out of the tank for just a minute or two and carefuly scrapped the bugger out of the crevasse he was in making sure to not let any fall back on the rock . I scrapped deep enough into the rock to make sure I got it all... Im sure he wasnt alone in there, so Ill be keeping a look out...

Manually removing aiptasia can/will make the problem worse. It will immediately release its planula. It's a defense mechanism that ensures a future for aiptasia. Kind of why some anemones split when put into stressful situations.

Wow really ... Even if I did it with the rock out of the tank and upside down so nothing could fall back onto the rock as I scraped? and i really didn't even touch it, I scrapped under him and took some rock with it ... He was really tiny and Im pretty sure I got under it all with the first gouge ... Anyway I hope it doesn't become a problem . Thanks for the info

Tank Update : Ok Im at the end of week four and everything is looking pretty good , still a little nitrate showing up, test reads about 10... So I couldnt take it any longer and bought a few small inexpensive pieces from my LFS today and I wanted to share some pics of my first reef life ever ... Sorry about the quality , cell phone only right now but I just wanted to post something . Pics were taken about 30 mins after i placed everything in the tank . they were still opening up , the mushrooms are alot bigger when at full size... thanks for all the great info , its starting to sink in : )

Ive been keeping an eye on the spot where the Aptasia was and no signs of it coming back , or anywhere else I can see so far . I hope it stays that way. I wont try that again...
