Hey Everyone! My name is Ryan, Im 22 years old. I would like you all to take a look at my new set up. I have been working on this for the last 2 months now and I have finally added my first fish, Scopas Tang. Please feel free to make comments about my set up, Positive and/or helpful comments. I am still new at this, and this is my first tank. Thanks guys, and glad to be apart of 3reef! :)

I custom built the stand and hood, I used pine to keep the cost down but still ended up spending $375 in material, and about 50 hours of labor. Turned out well tho!

I have a 30 gallon sump system, and right now just a small hang on back skimmer. I bought the tank from someone local and he was just running this skimmer with no sump. I will be upgrading my skimmer very soon! Any suggestions are appreciated!

The pump in my sump is a SICCE Syncra Silent 2.0 (568 US GPH)

I have 2 power heads in the tank, they are SICCE Voyager Stream pump (1200 US GPH)

I have 80lbs of sand and roughly 80lbs of Live Rock.

Last is my lighting system, This came with my used glass tank. 2 T5's and 2 Blue actinic. I want to upgrade this very soon as well to an LED set up. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks for reading! Any suggestions and comments are appreciated! Please no rude or nasty comments. I am still new at this. If there is something i can change or do different please let me know nicely! Thanks everyone!

    Ryan

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Welcome to 3reef Ryan. :)

You did a spectacular job on the sand and canopy.

My only concern is whether you epoxied the upper most pieces at the top to the rock below. Rocks shift and move and critters can shift move them.

Other than that the scape is very nice and the tank has tons of potential, well done.

Im mainly focused on building a spectacular reef, and having around 5 nice fish! However money is getting tight already, I have already put over 2k into this set up and I only have one fish! lol

Hello and welcome to the 3reef fam. Great work on the tank. You should be proud of what you did as this hobby isnt cheap. At least you have a fish. I cant tell you how much I spent and I still waiting on the tank and getting it wet also. Keep up the good work.

Thats looking really nice!. One thing though, I had one of those powerheads and it was utterly atrocious. It got really clogged with algae and grime really easy and there wasn't half as much flow as I would expect for something so bulky.

Move to some MP40s or 60's when you can :).
