    Welcome to 3reef!:)

Let me get this straight. You 'cycled' your tank in 1 week? With chemicals? Was the rock already cured? Do you use an at home test? Which kind if you do? I wouldn't add anymore fish into there for a few weeks. Just keep an eye on everything, especially your ammonia and nitrites. Was anything you used from a previously established tank (rock, sand, water, etc.)?

Also I'm assuming that you have next to no algae in there right now. Mexican turbo snails are lawnmowers. I wouldn't have 3 in a 34g. I've had 5 bring a 55 back down to no algae when it had been a kelp forest before. Now they have to have their diets supplemented by nori.

Keep us updated on the clown!;)

1st, welcome to 3reef, Im also from NY. Whom ever is giving you advice on how to start a SW tank, is taking you for a ride, not to mention your money. As we speak, you should not have anything in that tank with the exception of ONE damsel. The cycling process can last up to 12 weeks. If its possible, ask your LFS to hold on your livestock until you finish your cycle. Heres a site that will help you understand alot about SW tanks. Saltwater Aquarium Setup Guide

    Welcome to 3reef.

Boy that is sure a fast cycle, might want to slow down a bit before you spend more money on new livestock.

    Welcome to 3Reef.

Glad to see you found way here.

    Sorry about loss.

Getting a new tank started up is always a trial with some risk to livestock. With good Live rock, a tank could concievably cycle in a week. But does not mean it can deal with any kind of a bioload on it yet. Takes some time to get that bacteria to build up...

Just go slow and all will be well. Give tank at least a month before adding any more fish.

    Good Luck!

    Keep us posted.

I am sorry for your loss...
I am with you, Omard...Although a tank may cycle in a week, the bacteria build up is just enough to breakdown the ammonia and nitrites, however, the bacteria that is established is not enough to handle any extra bio-load..8-12 weeks is always a good time frame...
