Yes, we test our water once every two-three weeks or so. I recently got the water tested within the last week. My results had high phosphate levels-- they recommended waterblasting rocks/crevaces, and syphon-cleaning my sand. My nitrate levels were at 30, which was better than the previous test, which resulted in 70. My PH is just where it needs to be. From what I remember there were no other major things to be said.

Like I said, my father and I both share responsibilities of this tank-- which often becomes a problem for me when I do my researching, because pet store owners will ask me questions that I don't have all the answers to, because dad will be the one who deals with that aspect of the tank. Dad does his water changes and whatnot, but I don't know how much and how often.

I'm actually going to my store within the next hour to purchase a nitrate and phosphate test kit, and 5feet of thin hosing to blast the rocks with. I'll get my water tested again while I'm there!

I would test your own water. Then you will be able to see what the results are. First things firts how old is the tank. What kind of setup do you have. Are you using Ro/di water.

Well, today I brought home nitrate, phosphate and PH testing kits-- the kind my store owners use. My tank is a little more than a year old, but keep in mind that I installed the UV sterilizer three weeks ago, and the protien(sp?) skimmer three/four days ago.

I am not familiar with the term Ro/di water o_o so you guys might have to enlighten me on that ^_^

umm, since dad and I share the responsibilities with the tank, I am not very sure what all the components of my tank are. Maybe someone here can give me a list of things that I need to find out and bring back here to further help you guys help me =D I'm willing to find out what ever I can for the well-being of my aquarium.

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome =D you guys are cool. GROUP HUGS LOL

RO/DI stands for reverse osmosis/de-ionized water. It is a purification process. It takes out minerals, phosphates, nitrates, etc, etc. AIRWATERICE is a sponser here on 3reef. Take a look at the Typhoon III and read up on it. That will give you an idea.

    Now, a list of questions:

Do you have mechanical filtration? If so, what kind?
What kind of skimmer do you have?
What kind of lighting do you have?
What kind of tank population do you have?
    How much live rock/live sand?
What kind of flow (powerheads) do you have?
Do you run a sump and/or refugium?
Do you have a ground probe yet?
Do you have a cover on your tank?
    Do you have a chiller?

We'll start with that and go from there.
