sorry i missed so many post you asked earlier about red sea salt ive started using it and have had no problems. i got it to try since i got a good price on a big bucket so i would say stick with it since that is what you are using

you were asking about a protein skimmer they are different from a filter if you can get one they are a big help but if your in an area where you cant get one i would suggest regular water changes. until maby you can find one. if you find one continue to run your filter also.

your fish will be fine with the lr you got but like was in the other post if you do get more cure it seperatly as not to affect your water. lr is full of critters ive had my tank almost 2 years now and im still finding stuff

You can get some more live rock and cure it in a tub of salt water with a power head for circulation.  In time, with water changes to export the bad stuff you will have rock that has cured or cycled outside of your tank.  When you add it to your tank you won't experience a significant ammonia spike and your critters, fish and inverts, will be happy you did.  You will have even more cool stuff in your tank with more live rock.

    :) ;) :D ;D :eek: 8) ::)[/quote]

You also notice that there are lots of cool stuffs coming out from live rocks :D :D

mum today boughts a few more, one of it has so call flowers covering the whole stones. It can open and it can close whenever it likes it.

    Cool but hairy :p

Guys, I have been shopping around for protein skimmer, these 2 brands are what I found, one of them is "ORCA" the other is "RED SEA". The price for RED SEA is so EXPENSIVE $238. But for the "ORCA", it ony cost $28.

How do I know which type or brand of protein skimmer is good and strong?? If I go to shops and say I want protein skimmer, they sure say anyone will be good, cause they only want to earn money.

I read an article today, need the views and help of you guys. Thank you.

1.THE NITROGEN CYCLE AND ITS OWN INVOLVEMENT IN A NEW TANK SETUP
A new tank lacks biological filtration maturity and livestock will perish once toxic wastes accumulate within a very short time. It is essential to introduce the nitrogen cycle to build ample bacteria populations first before the tank can house any marine livestock.

Q: How do I introduce the bacteria??

    2.WHAT IS NITROGEN CYCLE?
The nitrogen cycle is a chain reaction in nature resulting in the birth of various types of nitrifying bacteria, each with their own job to do. The three components involved in making this happen are ammonia, nitrite and nitrate.

In general, the nitrogen cycling process usually takes about 30 days and not any earlier.

Testing your aquarium water during cycling is very important.
Q: How do I test? And what do i use to test?

1st Phase - Ammonia (highly toxic)
Ammonia is the first component in the chain of the cycling process. You can kick-start the cycling process by the introduction of ammonia via the decay of a fresh proawn placed in the water.

Toxic ammonia will build up to very high levels for about a week and a half.

ME: I have test my ammonia, its at the safe level. I have also paste a tester of ammonia in my tank. So it will alarm me when the ammonia is high.

    2nd Phase - Nitrites (toxic)
On the 10th day of the cycle, another kind of nitrifying bacteria will process ammonia into nitrates. Ammonia levels should disappear and nitrites as a by-product will build up till the 24th day. If you use your test kit, you should see it hit 15ppm, the most critical stage; and at about 25 to 35, the levels should begin to fall off.

3rd Phase - Nitrates (least toxic)
When nitrate reading begin to increase, you can tell that beneficial nitrifying bacteria are starting to establish themselves. You can begin stocking up with fish and corals slowly from this point onwards. It may be necessary to do water changes to reduce high nitrate levels.

Q: I test my nitrate, it is at the most dangerous level. And the above paragraph said, add in livestock when nitrate increases. I thought when nitrate increase, I can't add any livestocks? This is making me blur? So do I add in fishes now?

On sat night, I have change 1/4 of my water. Cause seeing the nitrate so high. And when do i test the nitrate again?
