    My dad and I have been working on our saltwater fish tank on and off for 10 years. Our first round (about 7 years) didn't work out well. We weren't prepared and our LFS wasn't helpful at all (no suggestions for skimmer/LR, fish compatibility, etc). Not surprisingly the only fish that lived long were our original damsels. We took a few years off due to frustration and now have come back to the hobby. I'm trying to just figure out what we need to do to be successful.

    We have a 110 gal FOWLR with a foxface, two clowns and a blue tang. We have about 40 lb of LR now (we will slowly add more) and a lot of base rock with crushed coral substrate. I'll probably be asking questions about general tank maintainance practices right now. If this works, maybe we'll try a coral tank in a few years. Hopefully this time works better than the last.

    Howdy! and welcome to 3Reef. You made the right choice, frustration is something we all deal with at one point or another, need to be very patience and read a whole lot, but it can be done!
