Hello fellow Fish-Heads!

I just wanted to introduce myself. I've been contemplating getting back into the "sport" for several months now. I've been doing TON's of reading and research. I have (and will continue to) read several different web-sites on the hobby. I think I like this one best so far. I think because most other sites are dedicated to, primarily, reef tanks, where as 3reef seems more encompassing on all types of saltwater fish keeping.

A quick background on me, I've successfully kept several freshwater tanks and one saltwater tank for a short time with an ex-gf about 8 years ago. I have been, I think, very successful with my freshwater tanks. Therefore I think I have a good base of knowledge to start (again?) with. I'm pretty engineering/science/biology oriented so I have a fairly good aptitude for the hobby.

As I said, I've been researching for months now, reading and catching up on things. I'm taking my time and being VERY patient and not rushing things at all. As of this week, I've pulled my 75 gallon aquarium and stand out of the basement and selected a suitable place in the livingroom for it to reside. Next step is a good cleaning and I think I'm going to refinish the stand and hood.

I think I'm going to work towards the goal of a FOWLR tank to start. Although, knowing how geeked-out I like to get with stuff, I'll probably wind up doing a reef eventually, based on my success (gulp, or failures). I still have a LOT to learn and understand but thank you, all, for sharing your passion of fish keeping and your knowledge. I hope I can give back someday.

a background in freshwater is certainly an asset when taking on saltwater IMO
