    Magnus,
Thanks for the welcome. I purchased the Biocube HQI 29 gallon. As far as the water goes I have well water. Is there anything I should know about using well water? Should I still purchase a filter for RO/DI water?

I can see where dosing supplements on a smaller tank can be more of a problem if done wrong.

Concerning sand. How deep should I make the sand for this tank? Can I also assume dead sand is dried out and not wet? Do I add the half pound of live sand at the same time as the dead sand? Is the half pound of sand all I use no matter the tank size? Do I need live rock as well as dead live rock?

I appreciate all the help with getting my tank started.

    Sincerely,
    Dave

    Congrats on the new tank.

This is a good thread on the generalizations and gettting started.
