Hello 3Reef and love the site.

I've had my 55 gal. reef (sortof) for 5 years, the species have become fewer due to a move 3 years ago but I wanted to back into it...so I figured it's time to join the forum.

In the next couple of weeks I will be switching from cc to a ssb (too nervous about a dsb and its dangers later in life). This forum is unique in that it has a SAND forum which I have not seen anywhere else (GREAT). I'm also probably going to purchase one or two 20L gal tanks to build my first sump next month.

    Anyways...awesome website and forum.

    Thanks for the welcome.

Wish it was still day time so my lights were on and I could stare at my tank. Flipped the kitchen light on a little bit ago and there are some very very ugly worms crawling my rocks...scary I touch those.

Welcome to 3reef from Bend, OR... Couple of sand/substrate gurus would be tangster or dr. Fragenstein. I like to keep mine at about 2 inches deep.

Welcome to 3reef... It's great to have another Hokie on here (though I wonder about the carolina thing). My wife and I had a 70 gal reef when we lived on Ridge Rd right close to the airport. There wasn't much for salt water in B'burg back then. We wound up getting most of our stuff in Richmond. It's still worth the trip if you need a good bricks-and-mortar fish store.

Here is a couple pics of the worms, one of the bristles and I'm not sure what the other is.

yes, they look like earthworms with a flat tube face.

When I change my substrate next week, I will be scrubbing the algae off some of my rocks, it's scary I'll be touching those with my hands.
