    Hello,
I'm new to the site and just wanted to introduce myself... I'm Ory from California and got my first 29 gallon fresh water fish tank when I was about 11-12 years old. I had that tank for several years until I was a teenager and was more into girls and hanging out with friends (typical teen boy) that I lost interest in the tank. Once a became an adult I wanted to get back into the hobby again so I started up a 100 gallon salt water tank (also had a 20 gallon SW but only did that for a few years)and had that for about 10 years. That poor tank traveled through 3 different moves (parents, apt & 1st home) but on our final move to the home we have now I just didn't have it in me anymore and starting the tank up again. We started a family and the tank was just too big to put in the house because darn kids take up too much space.. LoL
I still have the tank in the garage sitting there collecting dust along with everything needed to get it going again and eventually plan to start that tank again in my future man cave. My 7 year old daughter is kind of obsessed with the ocean that my wife told her that daddy has an old fish tank that used to have SW fishes. Well, lets just say they were both determined to get me to started up with it that one of the doctors my wife works with offered to give her his old tank. A 36 gallon corner bow front tank with stand and everything he had for that tank (no fish) because his kids out grew their tank (typical teens) and he has no time for the fresh water tank anymore so we took it.
After 8-9 long years out of hobby, I'm back! Now I have the tank up in running using one of my old wet/dry filters and adding stuff that I had for the old tank. It's been a little over 1 year that the tank is going now and it's nice getting back into this hobby again. It was hard at first to refresh my memory on everything again but after 1+year I'm still learning.
I'm so glad that I started up again and now my daughter tells me she wants to be a Marine Biologist when she grows up.. Of course last week she wanted to be a Zoo keeper.
I still have the old tank in garage and wife and I are talking about bringing it in the house. We eventually would like to put it at the front entry way to seperate the entry way and living room. This way when you walk in the house its right there and other side the back of the couch will be up against. All this will be in time! First thing first is continue with the current tank and with this site I hope to grow and learn from all of you.

What a great story. I'd love to see pics of the current tank when you have time.
And I look forward to your build thread with the big tank down the road. ;)

    Welcome Ory to 3reef.

Boy you are dead hard hobbyist, I know the feeling. My obsession started in high school as well, I went to boarding schools and lugged that tank every where. Guess what 30 years later I am still moving tanks.

Thank you everyone! I look forward to being a member here @ 3reef.

The tank is a FOWLR but in time maybe going to add corals. I just hear having a wet/dry isn't a good thing for corals.

I'm in the process of doing some projects and upgrades to the tank now but in almost a year we haven't lost a fish.

What I have now in the 36 gallon is a Flame Angel, Bicolor Blenny, Yellowstripe Maroon Clownfish, Blood Red Fire Shrimp & Scarlet Skunk Cleaner Shrimp. My wife wants more fish but I'm afraid to add another one because of the Flame Angel. I need to add more of a CUC to the tank with Hermit Crabs and Snails.. I know that should of been first thing I should of added a year ago..LoL

sounds like a great little mix of fish. I'd be apprehensive of adding more fish given the maroon not because of the flame angel. Definitely adding in more of a CUC could give some additional life and cleaning up. Have you thought about an urchin?
