    Hi everyone,
Just joined the other day........ here goes.
I've been in the hobby for about a year and love it, family memebers enjoy it also. This past weekend i started up my 65 gallon tank, 80 pounds of sand, 100 pounds (ish) of rock, eheim 4 basket canister filter, deltec mce600 skimmer, 2 - 850 power heads, 300 watt heater and a nova extreme 6 bulb t5 light. I put a cup of sand from my existing tank, 30 pounds of cured live rock on top of 30 pound base of dead rock. I still have 30 pounds of live rock in my current tank. I'm thinking by the end of March I will be ready to move the balance of live rock and fish into this new tank but test will tell.
My current tank is a 29 gallon bio cube. I purchased it used (established sand on the bottom included) and have been very successful with it. The bio cube is basically stock, i added a small nano power head. this tank has tulip anemones, a long tentacle anemone (split 3 times and found new homes), red mushrooms, 2 clowns, 1 blue damsel, 1 three stripe damsel, 1 pajama cardinal, 1 convict worm blenny, 1 camelback shrimp, and a healthy clean up crew. After reading many forums i kept the bio balls, yup i did, and you know what? I never had an isssue with any spikes and my nitrates are close to zero every reading. For maintenace I do 4 gallon water changes every week, i modified a bio cube filter and make my own with bulk floss, i refill a carbon media bag evey other month and tha't about it. My tank is clear of everyhting! I pray i have the same luck with my new tank.
Because I'm personally starting this tank from scratch I'm sure I'll be accessing this site for info, as a matter of fact i already have. I was curious about rinsing live sand, i found it was 50/50. I didn't rinse my new sand and everything seems to be fine. 3 days later still slightly cloudy but its getting better.

    well i guess that's it.
    see ya
