Hello from michigan

    hi im a new member i have a 55 gallon metaframe and a 10 gallon metaframe feeder tank on the bottom. i have one large red tiger oscar in the 55.

    For filtration i have a fluval 205 and a 305 for filtration. what kind of media should i be putting in the compartments of these filters? i just switch from a marineland 350 to the fluval 305 and im getting high nitrate levels whats the best way to bring them down?my oscar is just laying in the corner. i did do a 25% water change today.

    welcome to 3 reef epixstar

    I would use sintered glass media in the lower trays and the sponge in the top tray

    to reduce nitrates, dont feed to often, do 20% water changes weekly (Oscars are messy feeders) and clean that filter - wash it out with the water you are going to throw away with your water change

    carbon added to filter will help keep water clear
