Hello from Minnesota

I happened to come across this site and figured I would stop in and say hi. My name is Bradd and I have been reefing for a little over 15 years now. I just recently moved from Kansas to Minnesota after getting married. I sold all of my equipment and livestock before the move and am starting fresh now that I am all settled in.

Currently I am running a 55 gallon tank with no sump. I have an Evergrow IT2040 L.E.D. for a light. The IT2040 comes with 55 Bridgelux LEDs that create an amazing 165 watts of effective light. This amazing light is fully programmable using a remote and the built in LCD keypad. You can program sunrise and sunset and moon cycle, and change the lighting intensity from 0-100% in either one-half, or one hour intervals. I am also running a Coralife Super Skimmer rated for 125 gallons, and I have a couple of powerheads running for added circulation. I know, not the best equipment, but seeing as how I am on a limited budget right now it will have to do.

I have approx. 75lbs of live rock in the tank and a shallow sand bed. I inherited 3 clownfish and 2 damsels when I bought the live rock. The person I got the rock from said that he was going to flush them if I didn't take them. I also have various hermits and snails in the tank.

The only coral I have right now are some bright green zoas and a purple pimpled mushroom. I am in an area where there are no LFS so I have to drive 2 hours if I need anything. (I don't like having livestock shipped. I would rather see what I am getting first hand.) Apparently nobody in Central Minnesota likes saltwater tanks with the exception of myself.

Thank you very much. I see you are from Cincy.... Used to work there at Job Corps in the Security Dept. I miss going across the river to Florence to White Castle. Is that one even still there? Skyline chili wasn't too bad either.

 

Can someone tell me why I don't have access to the market place here? I always like to look at what is for sale/trade.

 

I'm sure the white castle is probably still there, they're everywhere along with good old Skyline.

I believe you need to have at least 50 posts and possibly 30 days as a member to access the marketplace - I'm not positive.

Your first 50 posts would be best served targeted towards helping these individuals.
