So, I am starting my 14g biocube (newer model). I have prior experience with a biocube (older model). I must say, the newer one has a few new design features that are pretty helpful compared to the older one.

    Anyways, my tank has:

    --12lbs LR.
----I think I might ad a few more lbs, just to make it look a little better...im sure the extra LR would look be beneficial regardless.

    --10lbs live sand.

    --50watt heater

--LR in the back instead of the bioballs that it came with (maybe 2lbs)

--Stock lighting...which i think i am going to keep for now.

--Filtered sea water from Scripps Beach (its free and filtered pretty well..also...strait from the ocean)

    --custom build ATO.
----I currently work for ferguson enterprises....so it was pretty convenient to get float switches...transformer, and a SS Relay. I plan on configuring that ATO after i pick up some more LR

--I decided to keep the stock filter.
----mainly to just filter out the dust for now. Ive been rinsing it out with sea water every couple hours.

    --
    --180gph curculation pump

    --Coralife 250gph powerhead
----This seems to be the perfect amount of circulation for what I plan on having. Anymore circulation, and i think i would be on the border of too much... (thoughts?)

The tank is pretty basic. I aim to keep the setup a little more simple than it was on my last tank. I plan on doing water changes often.

For the time being a plan on letting the tank circulate with only LR and LS in there. Im going to hold off for a few weeks before I start adding any type of CUC. maybe even longer if people suggest it and my parameters allow it. Last time i got impatient and added a fish after a week...not a great idea.

The picture is a little cloudy..and my vision is to extend the LR out towards the front of the tank on the left side. Well see how that goes. More pictures as i mess with the aquascape a little bit.

I would love to hear any opinions, thoughts etc.

Hi Mike, and welcome to 3reef.

Now I am curious and will have to check out the new design to the bio cube.

Personally I think you might want more flow even for a softy tank.

    What are your fish plans?

Welcome to 3reef Mike! Seems you have a good handle on how to run a successful tank. Although I do agree with Corailline that you may want/need more flow. I am thinking adding one more in the 250 range would be fine for now, maybe put both on a wavemaker to alternate flow a bit.

Not really sure on what im going to do for a fish yet. Some type of fire fish or a clown?

More flow huh? I like the idea about the wave maker...ive never had one, nor do i know much about them.
