    Hey all,
I thought I would join 3reef as NZ forums have very few members and so help can be difficult to find!
I'm relatively new with saltwater aquaria and have had my fair share of trials and tribulations, so am hoping things improve.
    Here's my story so far:
I have a 250L/66G tank (I apologise if I forget to convert some units from metric, or convert them wrong - google is my converter) with a ~100L/26G sump. The tank is slowly becoming a reef but this has been an extremely slow process.
I set up the tank around July 2010 and cycled it for around 6 weeks before adding fish. By September I had a yellowtail damsel, picasso trigger, xenia, green star polyp and favia. Unfortunately in September 2010 we were hit by a large earthquake and lost power for days (as well as having a very stirred up tank). This killed everything  except the trigger :). Of course the tank went crazy and grew algae for a while before settling down.
I then got an emperor angelfish. After moving house in december (moving tanks sucks!) the picasso trigger tried to hide in a powerhead and ended up in pieces .
Of course the tank cycled again after moving and grew lots of algae.
I was scared to re-stock the tank as we had over 5000 aftershocks in the following months, but when things started settling down, I got a percula clown. February 2011 saw us hit by a more devastating earthquake ! This wiped out the clown  (I shouldn't be too upset - I am still alive, many weren't so lucky). I had no access to water for water changes (even drinking water was scarce) so the tank was in a dire state.
Thankfully, the emperor angel survived it all and is still my only fish. 2 months on I am finally at the point of having an almost clean tank. My rocks still have a bit of algae remaining, but no more is growing. Water parameters are great so in the last week I have introduced some small frags of Monti digitata, frogspawn, xenia, GSP and a mushrooms. I am just hoping the earth stays still! :-/

3reef has done wonders for my tank. might be a good place to get some tips from some CA folk on how to earthquake proof your tank even

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Welcome to 3reef,

If you had the fortitude to make it this far, through that many earthquakes and algae bloom, you going to do fine.

    :)
