Hi all, I live in Trinidad which is right above south america in the caribbean. I am setting up a 36X18X18 FOWLR setup, hopefully which will branch off into a reef system as i gain experience in the hobby. Im an environmental survey technician and as a result i see alot of different species or anemones and reef creatures on the whole in our waters. I plan on collecting from the sea as well as from local fish sources (which are very limited down here).

wow, that's really cool. Good luck with your set up, and once you start into corals, you will never look back.

Yo limer, I'm from Trinidad too. I live in Chaguanas. It's so cool to finally meet another Trinidadian here. Well, there are a few others but they were born in Trini and now live in the States. Not to worry too much about your local fish sources, I'm gonna start importing fish and corals and breeding some clowns and cardinals in the next coming months. I'll be receiving my equipment in a few days and fishes around late Feb and March. Keep in touch.
    Later;)

Cool... Well I have bought in the past but now I really don't see the sense in paying so much money for live rock when I can just go Toco or down the islands to pick them up. Haven't gone on a collecting spree as yet but maybe you can give me a better location other than Toco?

well i do alot of work in tobago (the rock and soft coral there is amazing) but im not sure if youll be able to pick them up that easy. I am actually goin to toco on sunday to see whats there as most of my reef work is normally at deeper depths (like 200ft). In fact next time i go sampling im definately goin to try to get some of these corals as i suspect the deep water reefs will be more tolerant to low lighting conditions.

I know for sure in Scotland bay things are really shiddy at the moment. I have not seen toco reef in over a year so this should be interesting. Only after i see it will i be able to tell u if i know of any better places.

Okay cool thanks. I'm almost completely sure that it's strictly prohibited to sample from Tobago:(
