I am excited to start this new hobby of mine. HORTON16 is the one that got me interested. I am about to purchase a Fish tank for 500 dollars and it is 47 gallons and it comes with T5 Lighting, Instant Ocean, Bio Filter, Power head, Glass top, test kit, hydrometer, and a Nice stand. Is it a good deal?

you could lose the bio filter and replace it with a good skimmer and you will have a good deal. Also, drop the hydrometer and get yourself a refractometer.

Save yourself the trouble down the road, and buy a pre-drilled tank with an overflow, and a sump.... Trust me, you'll be glad you did. I didn't do that, and am now working with a canister filter and a Hang-on-back protein skimmer (ugly as sin). Usually the predrilled tanks aren't much more money, and alot more effective. By the way, WELCOME TO 3REEF!

You are starting up a wonderful hobby.

Lots of options for getting started...but think of where you want to be in future before purchasing any equipment.

Let us know what you decide upon.

    Keep in touch.
