I was really thinking of getting a pre drilled tank with an over flow and sump, that was my original idea of what i was going to do.

Hello....and welcome to 3reef. I am new here too, I still lurk in the deep dark water and listen. There's great help here, listen to them, don't get in a hurry. I was limited by space, so I'm trying to figure out how to make mine the best it can be. Get a reef ready tank!

If you don't get a predrilled tank, get yourself an external overflow. It doesn't have to be predrilled for it to work right. I never bought a predrilled tank. One has an external overflow, one I drilled and plumbed myself, my fish only has a hob fuge and skimmer, and my nano as nothing. (lotso water changes.)

I couldnt agree more. Whatever you do, dont rush into buying something just to get something. Shop around some more before you commit yourself. You can even save more $$$$ if you buy used, that way, the $$$ you save can buy you additional equipment like a skimmer. Ask Horton16 for more advice as he has learned alot from this site. BTW, welcome to 3reef, the best damn site in the galaxy. Any friend of Horton16, is a friend of ours. Luna

I am so happy he is getting into saltwater. I live down the street from him so once he gets his tank we are going to split an RO system
