    Hello

I am Gus Gonzalez and new to 3reef. I am getting back into the hobby, but this time at a smaller scale and mainly to introduce the hobby to my two munchkins a 5 year old boy and an 8 year old girl. I found this site while asking question on google and figured it would be a good place to get a bunch of questions answered. Back in 1988 I got into the hobby with a 75 gal. Oceanic tank and 20 gal. artificial reef system with an Ehiem 1050 pump. The filter was made by a local shop owner. He drilled the tank and attached a slab of glass to the corner of the tank that was drilled. The water would cascade over the glass and into a pvc drain that would in turn drain in to the 20 gal. filter located inside the stand. The set up was fantastic and the fish did very well. Anyway this time due to space availability in my home I have a 20 gal. Oceanic that I want to set up for saltwater. From what I have read so far every aurthor recommends 40 gals or bigger, but for now 40 gal. is more than I can accomodate so I am hoping that the 20 gal that I have can be setup and make a very satisfing and beautiful marine tank. My kids just want a couple of clown fish, hermit crab and peppermint shrimp.

Thanks in advance for the all the help and answers to my questions.

    Best Regards to all

Welcome to 3reef! A 20 gallon can make a very beautiful reef. I've been running a 10 gallon for the past 4 months and now I'm upgrading to a 65 to accommodate more fish and coral. ;D

    Hello Blue Falcon,
Thank you for your reply and for the confidence boost. I am glad to see that I am not the only one willing, or experimenting with small tanks. Greatly appreciate your reply.
