Hello all! I have to start off by saying this is a great site. As a first timer I have already learned a ton on here and this site has played a huge roll in my gameplan on setting up my first saltwater tank. My original plan was to start small with a 30 gallon but after reading, it looks like the bigger you go the easier it is to maintain staable water. So I got a great deal on an 80 gallon glass tank and I am on my way. My first project is going to be building a custom stand. If any of you guys have any tips or material recommendations that would be great.

Welcome to 3reef. Check out some of the build's in the "Show off your tank" forum for different stand builds. Most use 2x4's for framing and some type of veneer (sp?) wood for facing. The coolest stand (IMO) has to be the one with the viewable refugium and the removable panels, cant remember who built it.

Welcome aboard. If possible, try using PT 2x4 wood. They are stronger than reg. wood and dont have to worry about termites. Dont forget to post pics as you go along, you can start a " I built this " thread. Good luck.
