Thought I'd share my new addition to my system. Got him about a month ago. Spur of the moment so he resided in my fuge for 3 weeks while I made a home for him. Found a 30g oceanic cube and plumbed it into my existing 120g.
Any owners please feel inclined to share some advice etc. I'm always looking to learn. [IMG]

Dude your mantis looks so awesome. Makes me want one even worse, but I can't find any. Get that one online or I'm guessing LFS?

Can you explain how you plumed it into your display tank? I'd be interested in doing the same thing.

O was fortunate enough to find him at my lfs. It wasn't for sale for months but I finally convinced him it needs to come home with me.
We've been getting acquainted so the stare downs are minimal. He's only been in that tank for about 4 days and I'm starting to wonder if I have too much light.
To plumb it in to my system, I pretty much just tossed a maxi jet 1200 into my over flow of my dt and the return into the skimmer section of my sump. It's pretty basic but works perfectly.

oh wait till he gets settled in, he will watch EVERY single thing you do. LOL. IMO if they dont like the light they just get away from it for a while. remember some are collected in as shallow 10ft of water.

They are sensitive to toxins so running activated carbon is a good idea. They convert over to frozen krill, formula 1 rather easily. However periodically withhold food so he exercises his raptorial appendages. (Otherwise, he'll lose them in a molt). This is one of my favorite animals ever. I was keeping O.s. (Peacocks) at a time when the whole hobby blamed every single fish death on hitchhiker mantis. ::)

Make sure some of the live rock is the size of rubble so it can "decorate" (and re-decorate, and re-decorate.....)
