I would like to add when the water doubles in amount in the bag drain half and do it again. I like 3 drips per second, slower for inverts.

Weird how people didnt ask normal questions first:

    Whats your salt level?
What the temperature and does it stay that temperature or bounce?
By poking holes in the bag are u draining the water in the bag into the tank water?
your treated your water before putting it in right?

Im nothing near pro but trust me i learned trial and error.

    for the

#3 yes, your not suppose to mix other fish water into your water. You suppose to scoop out the fish and dump the water from the fish store.

#4 what do you do to the water? Thanks!

    * tells me the cycle should be about done and all that's left is algae and probably some nitrates. That won't kill fish, they'll eat it if hungry enough.

** Tells me either the LFS are idiots and their tests are crap, or their water really is ok.

***Tells me again, the water is ok, cause if it wasn't the starfish's legs would be dropping off. Or it would be dead already, long before the fish.

So in conclusion, the next thing I think about is what happens from the fish store to the tank...Acclimation.:)

Here are 3 different ways, I prefer drip.

and really, try not to use the water they come in. What you're doing is slowly diluting the lfs water and changing it to your own. Empty the bag at halves. When the bag fills 1/2 the amount more than what was in it, drain half of that and drip more. I do that 3 or 4 times maybe more. I like a nice slow drip!

I honestly dont think the guy at the lfs is trying to screw us. I think the way we have been diong the tank acclimation is the prob cuz i see the tests on the charts.

Thanks for the great info and help everyone!
