    Hello all,

Me and my other half have just started getting into the salty side ;D , We have purchased a new 75 gallon set up but have not set it up yet (it is actually on layaway) which is a good thing as patience is not one of my virtues but I know that having to practice it will come soon enough but right now we are deciding on what we want (he has a habit of letting me have my way without letting me know it is not necessarily his lol)where we want it and all those other things that will be a big pita if we dont do it right the first time lol. But I am really excited about doing this and have really been happy to read about all the stuff we can do without out having to do any damage to a real reef ie farm raised and frags etc so this just keeps getting better and better!! Thanks in advance for all your help and input and your dedication to a very exciting hobby.

Hello Brie, and welcome to 3reef!!!!
I would invest in a good book(s) about the saltwater hobby and everything it entails for your success longterm. There is nothing worse than being bitten by the saltwater bug, and being excited and eager to get it up and running...only to have it come crashing down on you due to death of livestock, equipment failures or ineffectiveness, or lack of funds to get everything you need without skimping on price to get an inefficient/ineffective skimmer, or cheap lighting only to regret it in the near future, only to have to spend more money to upgrade later-ultimately leading to a larger investment etc.
Best of luck and enjoy...just take it slow and read and research along the way!
Welcome to 3reef and I am confident that you will be happy here and learn alot as well to help you in your continued and long term success of this awesome, enjoyable, rewarding and entertaining hobby...

Hello, New tanks are very fun. A true saltwater hobbyst will go through a rollar coaster of emotion, you will be excited, overwhelmed, and will probably contimplate selling back your equip. 3 or more times. You have to just stick with it! It will all pay off. A trip to your lFS will inspire you to no end. PS. Good Luck!~~

Thank you for the warm welcome

Yes I am learning that patience is the word of the day. Thank you so much for you warm welcomes and even more for being here to provide much needed information. We have yet to set it up as we were reading about saving real reefs and using "frags" or recycled tank stuff and we are looking into options and whether or not we can get enough live we did find enough sand and have it rinsed and ready to go now we are looking for some live rock that is somewhat near us but we have yet to come across any local reefkeepers. any ideas on how to procede?

    Thanks,

    Brie
