I have been amatuer aquarist for 10+ years. I still go to the local pet store for advice. But, you get what you pay for. I have problems maintaining low Nitrate levels. I have a 90 gal corner tank. Probably net 70 after live rock displacement and what is in wet dry and sump. Protein skimmer(in sump). CW0500 Pacific Coast Chiller(external of stand). I am trying a new product called zero NO3. It is working but my corals seem not too happy. Any basic advice out there. Thanks...

Need to find out whats causing the No3 in the first place. That zero NO3 is just a band-aid fix. Luna

My levels have been 100+. I know, bad. Now currently 80 with "band aid fix" as mentioned. No fuge, do not know what that is. I have been over feeding per pet store. Now once every other day.

Did not expect such quick response. Thank you. A little more 411...I just have been throwing money at this hobby. Have not really had time to enjoy it. Something dies I just replace. Kids kept me busy. Now I have time. I just bought the chiller and installed recently. Now just want to stop the toxic nitrate. I have really limited space as you can imagine.

100+ is way too much. Check out the link I added above.

It takes some time to get the bacteria built up and working, but once it does, it can bring that down significantly.
What size is your tank, what types of fish and size of the fish are in it, and what/how much are you feeding them every other day?

would that be nitrates, if so nothing should be alive in your tank. if it is nitrates than do a large water change

    start doing some research

I disagree my friend. One the LFS around my house has his coral tank at 80+ppm and his corals look pretty good. Luna

Nitrates yes. Using dip stick for quick tests. 6 in 1's. 100+ it has read but stuff everything is alive. 90 gallon corner tank. One medium yellow tang. One medium maroon clown. Four blue yellow fin damsels. One shrimp. Frog spawn. Brain coral. Star polyps.
