I have a nitrate problem that has never dropped below 20, it stayed constant for a long time but now has went up to 40. I have a 29g biocube and after reading a lot am thinking the bioballs are the culprit. I am slowly going to take them out so I don't spike the ammonia and nitrite. All of my tests are excellent except for nitrate. I do regular water changes with RO/DI.

After reading some more I have came across InTank from mediabaskets.com. Has anyone used these? They look like a good set up and what I like most is no mods to the biocube. They have two different ways a media basket and then use a skimmer or media basket and fuge thing. What do you all suggest? Thanks for any replies:confused:

I posted this in you other thread, but will post it here too. Removing those bio-balls along with regular water changes will go a long was to reducing those nitrates. If when you have that done, and you still cannot keep your nitrates lowered you may be slightly overstocked. If that is the case you must increase the frequency/size of your water changes.

Okay thanks for the information, will get rid of bioballs and see how it goes from there? would it hurt to just throw some live rubble back there?
