    Hello all.
My daughter was asking for a fish tank and I decided to star a salt water tank for her...

Now, I don’t know if it was a bad decision! I am working everyday on this tank!
Anyway, this is my first time doing this. I got a 185 gal glass tank around 4 months ago from someone that quit on the hobby.
It came with two Rena canister, some live rock, two fishes (1 clown and 1 domino damsel) and a small MH lamp. Things were ugly until I started reading thousand of pages about this hobby, rid of of most of the wrong stuff and start working on tank improovement. Now, my daughter barely pay attention to the tank meaning that is only my responsibility, at least it is very pleasant!

    Well, I made a sump, bought a Protein skimmer, a lamp with 4 x 54 t5 actinic, 2 MH and 4 led (moon light)
FINALLY, I decide to get some time to ask people with experience, now I’m felling addict to the tank...things are getting better unfortunately i don’t see any coralline algae yet but I’m having some nuisance bubble algae on the sand.
I got some corals and also added a yellow tang, a blue hippo and 3 pajamas(?)
One of my successes was doing my DIY overflow for the sump...working nice and quit...
Well I thing I will continue later.

I want to thanks in advance to all the 3reef members and moderators for the help I know I will receive to have a successful tank.

    Will post some pictures soon.

    Thanks!

have you considered adopting a 46 year old male?

185 gallon salt water tank is an awesome gift for you daughter
if she loses interest, her loss is your gain IMHO

    Thanks for your comments!
Now I feel more relaxed. So, I'm not sick because I spend time everyday watching the tank?
In fact, my wife is getting jealous!

Oh I've so been there, my friend and I made a pact to not go to the various coral distributors in our area in plans of saving for MAX in April. We've yet to be able to stick to that for more than a few days. LOL. And my girl gets PO'd daily at the endless tank talk. It's just how it goes :p
