Found this site tonight. It is awesome. We have a 125 Gal tank setup for a year now, which has been very stable, everyone seems happy. Don't have to tell you it is a lot of fun. We have damsels, clowns, wrasse, one wrasse like magenta fish unidentified, snails and red legs.

3 weeks ago one of the 2 blue damsels looked like it was kicking up sand under a rock, ready we thought to lay eggs. Two weeks passed, and we noticed the 2d damsel was getting very aggressive toward this fish, and literally started to terrorize it to the point it was trapped behind a filter for days. Days later it's tail and dorsal fins had become shredded so we isolated it in the same tank in a basket. It seems to be surviving and calm. The aggressive fish however we see it has a growth under its lower jaw on the left side. It is about 1/8 in around and looks like a pink pimple.
    I have attached a picture.

Any suggestions as to what and how to treat this if possible?

Thanks for any help in advance. These were 2 of our first fish and wouls hate to lose either of them.

    welcome to 3 reef

may be a simple case of the aggresive one pronging itself whilst attacking the other one
may have bumped into something during the skirmish

I have experienced fish that have suffered injuries during odd fall outs and providing there is no secondary bacterial infection, they often heal on their own accord

Try adding a little garlic juice to their food. Will help this one heal and is good for everyone.

Sounds like they were establishing who was going to be the female and pairing up. I agree with steve, probably an injury that might have gotten a little infected.
You could try some Melofix to help out and as stated garlic on the food also helps the immune system.

    Welcome to 3reef btw

Thanks for the suggestion about the garlic....how do I give the garlic? And should they be kept apart? I have the one whose fins are pretty badly damaged in a separate basket in the tank for now'til it heals. I was told the fins can grow back. Is this true?

    Thank you

Crush some garlic with a garlic press and soak your foods in the resulting liquid

Or if your lazy like me, you can get garlic additives at your LFS. I use Kent's Garlic Extreme.

Thanks to all for your quick response to this question. I had the water checked today and all the levels seem to be well within the acceptable range. Appreciate all the responses, and thanks for the warm welcome.
