Hello to all.

My skimmer has Aquarium Systems manufacturer of instant ocean on the top cap and has a maxi jet 1200 on it can any one help me with this model on how to set the air right.

 

That's either a SeaClone 100 or SeaClone 150.

Flow Adjustment
After SeaClone is first plugged in, unscrew and remove the top portion of the Turbo-Venturi Air Valve. This facilitates maximum air intake and minimum water flow (approximately 50 gph).

To achieve optimal performance, reconnect the top and screw it all the way down (close). Unscrew (open) top approximately 3/4 to 1-1/2 turns depending on pump location and water level.

Important adjustment note: Too much or too little air will affect water flow and may cause bubbles to flow back into the aquarium. Minimal periodic adjustments may be needed due to variance in organic loads within the aquarium.



I usually go about 1 to 1 1/4 turns out. Also, make sure the groove on that adjustment screw is clean, otherwise it will restrict the airflow. You'll have to tweak the adjustment every few days until you figure out the setting that works best for you (produces the most skimmate). The skimmate on mine is usually greenish-brown and smells awful. Once I get the setting correct, I don't have to adjust it anymore (just check periodically to make sure the airline hasn't clogged with salt- if it does just pop the Turbo-Venturi Air Valve off and stick the airline under water for about 20 seconds and then pop the Turbo-Venturi Air Valve back on). I usually do this once every 4-6 weeks.
