Thanks guys, I took your advice and dumped the sand. I ordered 80lbs. of Caribsea's Ocean Direct Caribbean Live sand for $69.98 + 8.99 shipping which I thought was a pretty sweet deal.

Welcome to 3Reef.....good choice on ditching the old sand! You dont want someone else's garbage(detritus, nitrates, etc...) to start your new tank with.

Couple of things....take your time...really!!! Its so important to go slow and let things mature at a natural rate. If you try to rush things you will get frustrated, lose things (animals) and lose money too!

Last thing...take advice from people on here....they really know what they are talking about...trust me!
