Hi! My name is Eric and I've been in the hobby for about 3-4 years now. I decided to join 3Reef because I always found the answers to the tough questions via google search and it brought me here. :)

My current tank is a 40 breeder with 20 gallon sump mostly softie dominated with a few lps.

I really like the forum layout and the detailed sections.

    Thanks,
    Eric

P.S. I got my username from the other hobby (guitars). They are models of some of the guitars I have. Jackson WR1 (warrior) and a Jackson KV2 (king V). I'm a guitar geek and a reefer.;D

    Welcome to 3reef!

When you get a chance, post some pictures. You can do this different ways:
    1. Click "Go advanced" and the paperclip in the toolbox. Upload the pics, then post the message.

    2. If you have a PhotoBucket account (Others work as well), Click on the icon with the mountain. Delete the http://, and enter the direct URL for the picture.

Here is a FTS when it was first started. I had cycled this tank first and then transfered the the live stock from my old Aquapod 24.

It has grown out a little more, but I still have plenty of room for some more corals.

Wow! looks great. What type of lighting are you using? Everything looks healthy. And the tank is really clean. Do you have any livestock besides the clowns? They're a pretty good size.

Thanks for the warm welcomes everyone.:)

At that time just the clowns, but now I have the clowns, a yellow watchman goby, and 3 small chromis. I think I'm maxed out on fish, but my water parameters are still good. I won't be adding any more fish just in case. As far as inverts I have a crocea clam, porcelain anemone crab, tiger pistol shrimp, sand sifting star, and a peppermint shrimp. The lighting is just a standard 6 bulb current nova extreme pro withthe stock bulbs. I have battled a little algae here and there since the start, but now the only algae I get is coraline, the green film algae which the cuc decimate and a little cyno. The cyno is going away since I have increase the flow and have done away with vodka/sugar/vinegar dosing. That seemed to bring it on. I do dose bacteria like microbacter7 every now and then so I think that helps too. I started to use again some seachem reef plus and that has helped a lot with the coral coloration.

    Nice tank.

B/W clowns are a favorite of mine.

Interesting to see a tank that uses microbacter7. Do you think that contributes to the clean appearence of the tank?

    :)

I think it helps, but the clean appearance was from that this was just a few days after a transfer. I cycled that tank with new sand, BRS ecorock, mysis shrimp, and somd sand from my 24G. It took roughly 4 weeks. Then I did a 25% water change and slowly transfered everything from the 24 gallon over.
