Man I wish I could find a 40 breeder...been looking for a month. I do agree though should try something a little larger then a 20. I would try and convince a parent or some one to help out with money wise as going cheap never works out in the end. You don't even have to be looking for a certain tank. Just check craigslist for any tank and sure you could get a deal.

its not really so much the tank itself. its more about the other components like a refugium, protein skimmer and lighting system:-/

I bought a 40 breeder that came with a canister filter, protein skimmer, heater, few lbs live rock, stand, and a few other misc. items from a guy off craigslist for $200.. All I had to buy were some lights, and I got a 4 bulb T5 setup w/ moonlights for $130 off ebay. Just keep an eye out on your local classifieds and craigslist. Post a wanted ad on craigslist, you'll be surprised the deals that come your way. I've had people try to sell me 55 gals for cheaper than I bought my 40.. You never know what you'll find. Good luck bud.

Welcome to 3reef. And I second the recommendation for craigslist, there are a lot of good deals to be had especially when starting out. Any skimmer is better than no skimmer and picking up a $50 one online can hold you over till you can afford a better one.

i would go with a led as a lighting system they make great sizes for a 15g thank, but the only thing is they cost a lot like around $400 and up.

but with led they make a rippling effected which is really cool in smaller tanks.
    harder for bigger tanks.

and welcome to 3reef. plz post pics we love them.
